JOHAN'S ACTORS

AURORA CAYERO - ACTRESS

How did you get the role of Paquita, how did you get involved in
the project?

I had already worked with Johan in "Sing for Darfur", and he offered me a role in his new movie. He sent me the script without telling
me which character he had in mind for me, but I immediately fell
in love with Paquita. And that was the one that he had actually chosen for me!

Are you similar in life to Paquita or is she is quite different?

We have lots of things in common... Not so many with Paquita who she is in the beginning of the movie, there she is a bit too self-centered and anti-social. But when she starts to open up, to express her feelings, to what life has to offer, to the cosmos.. that's me.
I like travelling and I am quite Paquita when I am on the go.

Can you describe how your rehearsals went with the director?

I loved the rehearsals, I really enjoyed them... every day the director would give me a little present that had something to do with my character, so I was like a little girl waiting for her treat. Johan also challenged me for this role, and had the idea of placing me a few times in the middle of Barcelona to stop cars and wash their windcreens; with no cameras around. I felt I was there for an eternity, and nobody paid me a miserable euro... I realised the type of fighters that people that make their living like this really are. The only ones that would dare talking to me or asking me things were immigrants. Ironically.

How was the shoot, was it hard for you?

Working in this really small car for that shoot was quite hard considering all implications, but wonderful from a personal point.
I wanted it to go on for ever... continue living my dream with everyone: the crew, the director (I love him!). I only took off Paquita's necklace when I had to play another role; I didn't want
to leave it in a drawer; it was already part of me...

What's your favorite color and why? (And Paquitas?)

Just by chance (or maybe not!)... I like red, like my character.
I like what red means to me... love, passion, revolution...it's intense. My choice for dressing is white though.
