JOHAN'S FRIENDS
JORGE
Johan’s best friend is Jorge. Each day, they drink a few cortados together. Made from the freshest Cuban coffee beans. Jorge and his wife Eva are the owners of the best coffee bar on Johan’s route. They always talk (well, Jorge talks mostly) about Barca and life, but never too long because Eva needs Jorge inside. When he talks too much, she blows her whistle and he has to come in.
SENOR SUAREZ
Senor Suarez is a wise old man, who sits most of the days on a wooden bench next to the route. Here he drinks a glass of wine, looks at the sky, thinks about life and tells Johan some wise words, when Johan pulls the car over.
LEO
Leo is the future football star of FC Barcelona, according to Johan.
The young talent plays for hours with the ball, behind the gates in front of his house. Johan gives him useful tips and tries to motivate him to train even harder. According to Johan, Leo needs to become just as fanatic and hard as good-old Johan Neeskens, the all time favorite of Johan.
DORIS
Doris owns a small candy store along the route and that’s good news. When Johan’s father passed away, Johan immediately stopped smoking cigars. Since then he’s on 15 Chupa Chups a day. Preferably strawberry-melon. Doris makes sure his bag of lollies, that hangs on the gearshift, stays filled up.
NURIA
Nuria is the favorite hairdresser of Johan. She’s also the only hair dresser along the route. Nuria loves the hair of Johan. The two of them know each other for years. And Nuria doesn’t mind to cut his hair sitting on the backseat of his car.
PAQUITA
Paquita is Johan’s latest friend. She’s a bit mysterious. Suddenly she was there. Working at the only traffic light on Johan’s daily route. Paquita always wears red clothes and looks a bit intimidating. When you talk to her, she also has a completely different side. Paquita has a little friend: Paco. It’s the weird, little mascot that hangs on her jacket.
Johan’s favorite dish (apart from the Dutch wentelteefjes that his mother makes once in a while) is pizza. He always picks no. 13, also many times the number of Johan Neeskens on the back of his shirt. No. 13 is Pizza Funghi. The couriers (Serge is Johan’s favorite) always know where to find Johan. Instead of driving towards him, they just wait somewhere along the route. It never takes before Johan shows up in his 2cv.
